Josie Clair is the Creative Director and Founder of K Loco. Josie is an independent Australian designer with a deep love for Mexican people and culture. After living and working in Mexico she noticed the absence of authentic Mexican art in Australian fashion trends, despite there being scores of imitation Mayan, Aztec, day of the dead, and other Mexican art and designs. She then became inspired to give credit where credit is due to the Mexican artists themselves so started collaborating with the artists in Mexico to share their vibe and flair here in Australia. Essentially, K Loco and its designs emerge from a love of street art, tattoo art and Mexican culture and people.
Listen to your heart. Learn from the streets. Live in the now.
Designs, deco and accessories have all been handmade/drawn by Mexican artisans/artists in Oaxaca, Chiapas and Mexico City and bought directly from them. This fair trade is supporting Mexican artists to sustain themselves, their traditions, their artwork and their communities.
K Loco works with local scanning, printing, tattoo and streetart individuals and businesses to support and include the local community in Australia as much as possible. We aim to always deliver quality products locally and to the world.
DESIGN & IDEAS
Design and ideas have been drawn from Mayan symbolism, “cholo” street style, day of the dead and from Mexican tattoo and graffiti artisits. Australian tattoo and graffiti artists have also played an influential role in the K Loco style.
