Josie Clair is the Creative Director and Founder of K Loco. Josie has an eye for detail and after years of living and working in Mexico she noticed the absence of authentic Mexican art in Australian fashion trends, despite there being scores of imitation day of the dead, Mayan, Aztec and other Mexican art and designs. She then became inspired to give credit where credit is due to the Mexican artists themselves so started collaborating with the artists in Mexico to share their vibe and flare here in Australia. Essentially, K Loco and its designs emerge from a love of street art, tattoo art and Mexican culture and people.
Listen to your heart. Learn from the streets. Live in the now.
All of the K Loco designs, skull and jaguar carvings, and accessories from Mexico have been handmade/drawn by Mexican artisans/artists in Oaxaca, Chiapas and Mexico City . All of these products have been purchased from the artisans/artists themselves, in turn this fair trade is supporting Mexican artists to sustain themselves, their traditions, their artwork and their communities. VIVA MEXICO!
K Loco works with local scanning, printing, tattoo and streetart individuals and businesses to support and include the local community as much as possible. Whilst working with Mexicans, Josie Clair designs the clothing locally aiming to provide quality locally designed threads with an authentic Mexican flavour to the local community, all of Australia and the world as a whole.
ART & IDEAS
The K Loco label has drawn it’s Day of The Dead theme directly from the Mexican celebration of the dead. Design ideas have been drawn from Mayan symbolism, Mexican “cholo” street style and Mexican tattoo art. Australian and Mexican tattoo and graffiti artists have played an influential role and will continue to do so in the design and progression of K Loco and it’s style.
